Quotes from our arts non-profit partners

Ken Foster, Executive Director
Yerba Buena Center for the Arts

“Having Alexandra here proved to be a real boost for our program. Her creativity and initiative were an important part of rethinking our education and community engagement program. Not your ‘usual intern,’ Alexandra has made an important impact here in a very short time.”

Christina Goodney, Associate Director
Young Audiences Northern California

Young Audiences of Northern California is grateful to Arts for Youth for its support. Through the Fellowship program, we we fortunate to have Stanford student Joanna Fiduccia work with us over the summer and into the fall.

Joanna provided invaluable assistance to us, especially in her work compiling and editing our annual Program Guide, our primary tool of
communication with our client schools. She also used her excellent writing skills to update our artist handbook and develop new curriculum guides, which provide teachers tools for integrating our assembly programs into classroom work. In addition, she is working with Education Director, Ruth Mankin, to extend the visibility of our residency programs to a school community. Joanna worked independently, smoothly negotiating the challenges of working with an organization in transition. She impressed the staff with her thoughtful insights and the consistent high quality of work she produced. She was an incredible asset to us this summer, and we will miss having her.

Jeff Marshburn
President, Board of Directors
Fender Center for the Performing Arts
Kids Rock Free
(Provides scholarship music lessons for over 400 youth per year)

“On behalf of the Board of Director’s of the Fender Center for the Performing Arts, I want to thank you and the Arts for Youth Foundation for sharing Arts for Youth Fellow Amy Aniobi with us this Summer. Amy quickly assimilated with our organization and became a valuable contributor to our program. Without her work this summer, the Fender Center would not have been able to tackle very specific projects that will pay off for both the Center and the children receiving free music education for years to come.

Your skill at matching a bright, energetic and perceptive Fellows with an organization in need was masterful. Over the weeks Amy became more an extension of our family then anything else.

Thank you for your generous gift to us of Amy Aniobi. We’ve gained a friend for years to come who has made a difference in the lives of kids and music arts education!”

Camille Salmon, Program Director
San Francisco Arts Education Project

“I am so ever grateful for your program, and connecting me to such great students. This is the week we intend on sending them glowing letters of recommendation, this is also the week I already know how much I miss their energy, goodwill, support, hard work. We had a great summer, both girls have such wonderful qualities that complimented each other and our programs. The energy, intention, initiative, direction, thoughtfulness and love of involvement the fellows brought to our organization, and the children in our summer program was more than imagined. We had a wonderful and productive time together.”

Angela McConnell, Executive Director
Community School of Music and Art

“The Arts for Youth Program is such an inspiring model. The Community School of Music and Art greatly benefited from Nicole’s fellowship. It was and continues to be a real pleasure to work with such a capable, bright and responsible intern. She is an inspiration to her colleagues.”

Brenda Berlin, Executive Director
Young Audiences of Northern California

“Sheila was an amazing self-starter. She would initiate projects and follow them through…we had wanted to do for some time but could not allocate resources due to budget constraints. Her input, enthusiasm, understanding, were wonderful additions to the workforce.”
